Renewable energy and nuclear power

Greenpeace and Ecotricity have today released an opinion from Jon Turner QC which advises that the proposed support for energy company, EDF,  by the French state, needed if EDF is to invest in a new power station at Hinkley Point C, is State aid and unlawful unless and until notified to and approved by the European Commission.  The advice is that, since the Commission has already granted UK state aid to Hinkley it is unlikely to approve any more.

Harrison Grant acted for Greenpeace and Ecotricity and instructed Jon Turner QC, Ben Rayment and Julian Gregory of Monckton Chambers.
