Planning breaches and the Proceeds of Crime Act

  • Posted

A developer who carried out a development without planning permission, as well as being ordered to demolish the building, has been ordered by a court to make a payment of £700,000 under the Proceeds of Crime Act . Confiscation orders are rarely applied for in planning cases and the amount of the order is thought to be a record for defying planning laws. The money will be split equally between the local authority, the Court and HM Treasury.
